EU-Hivos funded workshop on registration,civic and information
The workshop is for the western v region to take place in Bulawayo for civic society organisations aimed to enhance preparedness for the upcoming referendum and general elections. The focus of the training will be on voter registratio
n and combined civic education and voter information modules for 35 participants.The participants are responsible for the design and implementation of programs targetting senior and middle managers.
The are 3 facilitators Tomsie P. Dhlamini- Lead and Accrediting Facilitator for registration module, Rindai Chipfunde Vava- Lead and Accrediting Facilitator for combined civic and information modules and Taona Ernest Mwanyisa-semi-accredited.

External Voting, Decreasing Participation, Implementation of Recommendations
Project Background
Under the grant support of IFES and a complementary micro-grant support of UNDP, in 2011 the ACEEEO implemented 2 regional training activities for member country representatives of the ACEEEO. A 5-days introductory workshop focusing
on Strategic and Financial planning, and a 10 days Train the Facilitator training. Due to further regional necessities identified by Electronic Voting CC, ACEEEO Secretariat offers to implement a BRDIGE showcase under the same grant agreement with IFES to create an opportunity for European decision makers to get acquainted with BRDIGE methodology and broaden their capacity development opportunities.
Objectives
• Showcase BRDIGE training methodology in a 2-days seminar• Bring together election professionals from across Europe to share experiences on capacity development, external voting and decreasing• Build new professional networks focusing on and fostering an even broader regional capacity development initiative
Showcase Seminar on External Voting, Decreasing Participation and discussing Recommendations and Implementation - an electoral cycle approach
The 2-days Seminar in Vienna will perform the showcase dealing with the burning topics of 1) external voting and 2) decreasing participation. Beside these, we are going to discuss and focus on possible practices of implementing OSCE election reports' recommendations in post- and pre-election period from an electoral cycle approach.
1) The topic of External Voting shall focus on
a. Principles of external voting (why have external voting and why not? What are the criteria for eligibility as an external voter? What is required to vote?)b. Implementation of external voting including logistical arrangements (What are the voter registration methods for external voters? What are the voting methods? Where do they vote and when?) including also cost of external votingc. Political impact of external votingd. Design of evaluation or reporting process of external voting activities
2) The topic dealing with Decreasing Participation will focus on
a. Educate the public and voters on democratic and governance processes (Is it possible? Is it necessary? What are the challenges?)b. How social media and modern tools have an impact on the society (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Blogging). Voting technology developmentsc. Tools to use to increase participation in electoral processes

AusAID Funded Voter Information and Civic Education Workshop in Vanuatu Apr 12
AusAID funded Voter Information and Civic Education module for the Voter Registration Officers. These officers will conduct public outreach for the electorate. This is the first step in designing a public outreach program for the VEO.

AEC funded by Ausaid and General Elections Commission of Indonesia (KPU) held two parallel classes BRIDGE Module Training from 21 to 24 of November 2011 in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. This was the 12th Module Training
that have been conducting by both institutions during the year 2011.
Participated by 45 people (from 7 Bureaus and 1 inspectorate in KPU), the training showed KPU an indicator that never been seen before where the staff very talk active and have wonderful knowledge about election. They said that they really enjoyed the training and have been waiting for along time to attend training on electoral content
the experience became very new and important especially for they who are working in finance bureau . In the training was accredited 3 semi facilitators to become workshop facilitators, one of them is the KPU commissioner, Endang Sulastri.

KPU-AEC BRIDGE Module Training
The 8th BRIDGE Module Training conducted under the AEC and KPU Indonesia joint activity is about to be conducted in Kupang, the capital city of Nusa Tenggara Timur, NTT (East Timor), Indonesia.
Acting as Facilitators are Djidon De Haan of KPU NTT, Sahr
uni Hasna, Yosmardin, and Eko Wahyudiono of KPU RI, and Mareska Mantik of AEC.
The target participants are KPU NTT Province commissioners and secretariat staff. Other participating participnts come from other provinces: West Java, East Java, Bengkulu, and Bali. The total expected participants is 26.

The 7th BRIDGE Module Training of KPU Indonesia and AEC is about to be conducted in Pangkalpinang, the capital of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province (Kep. Babel).
The target participants are KPU Kabupaten/ Kota Commissioners and Secretariat Staff from
the host province, and 3 participants from other provinces: South Sulawesi, Riau, and West Papua.
Acting as the Accreditting Facilitators in charge is Ferry Kurnia of KPU and Mareska Mantik of AEC. Others are fully-accreditted Facilitators Kelly Mariana and Emil S Tarigan, and semi-accreditted Faclitators Pujiarti, the KPU Kep. Babel Commissioner, and Wahyu Yudi Wijayanti from the KPU Central.

The sixth KPU Indonesia and AEC BRIDGE Module Training will take place in Denpasar, Bali.
Acting as facilitators are 5 KPU Indonesia and 1 of AEC. The facilitators in charge to lead the conduct of the training are 2 accreditting facilitators, Udi Prayu
di of KPU and Mareska Mantik of AEC.
PArticipants of the training will be KPU commissioners and secretariat staff from Bali Province, as well as numbers of both commissioners and secretariat staff from other provinces: NTT, NTB, North Moluccas, and North Sumatera.
The BRIDGE Module (MT) Training in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia, is now the 5th MT conducted jointly between AEC Indonesia Country Office and the Indonesia General Election Commission (KPU).
Acting as the Facilitators for the MT are KPU Provin
ce Commissioners Udi Prayudi, Nusra Aziz, Arief Endang, and KPU Secretariat Staff, Wahdi Hafizy. Also joining the KPU team of facilitators are the KPU Indonesia Commissioner, Abdul Aziz, and Mareska Mantik of AEC Indonesia.

The workshop will use the custumized modules that was developed by KPU Indonesia in 2010. The target participants are
KPU Jakarta Commissioners and Secretariat Staff with the additional 5 guests from other KPU provinces.

The target participants are the KPU West Java Commissioners and Secretariat Staff, and 5 representatives from 5 other KPU provinces.

The Australian Electoral Commissiom (AEC) and Indonesia General Election Commission (KPU) have agreed to jointly manage and implement the BRIDGE Program in Indonesia. Numbers of Module Training targetting the KPU in the regions, as well as Curricullu
m Development Workshop for BRIDGE modules customization have been schedule for year 2011.
Based on the agreed workplan, AEC and KPU will start the first Module Training that will take place in Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) Province on May 25 to 28. The participants of the training will consist of the KPU NTB commissioners and secretariat staff, and 5 participants from other KPU province.

The BRIDGE programme, in Indonesia, in 2010, has been developed, implemented and fully funded by UNDP, under the Multi-donor programme of support to Indonesian elections, as part of the capacity development element of KPU (Electoral Commission of Indonesi
a).
It was initiated in November 2009 with a “Needs Assessments Mission” (Ross), which included a showcase to KPU.
In February 2010, UNDP and KPU developed a strategy model to be implemented throughout the year. The plan consists of two (2) TtFs and four (4) modules workshops of five days each. Between the second TtF and the first module workshop, a new pilot initiative took place: Curriculum Development.
It is expected that at the end of the programme, 16 KPU staff that have attended the TtF will have completed their accreditation as BRIDGE facilitators. They will be the KPU in-house pool of facilitators who will, in the future, apply BRIDGE methodology and deliver BRIDGE training to various levels of KPU staff.
