The participants at the course will be Election Administrators from African EMBs. The training wi

The project is funded by AusAID through its Africa Governance Fund.

UNWOMEN funded Gender workshop in the Solomon Islands Jul 11
UN Women will be conducting a BRIDGE Gender & Election Module in Makira-Ulawa Province from 11th -15th July 2011.
The venue will be at the Provincial capital of Makira-Ulawa Province– Kirakira.
Facilitators for the workshop will include Ms J
osephine Teakeni (Workshop Facilitator), Ms Jessica Ngere (Semi-accredited), Ms Marolyn Misitana (semi-accredited) and myself.
Target participants include Makira-Ulawa provincial members, civil servants, community leaders, youth and women leaders and church leaders.
UN Woman funded Gender workshop in PNG June 11
The workshop will be reflecting on how temporary special measures, such as elected reserved seats in parliament, voluntary party quotas and other forms of affirmative action may assist Bouganville in achieving an improved gender balance in the national pa
rliament. Parliamentarians are also introduced to the principles of different electoral systems and how they affect women’s representation, as well as to the needs for respective voter education.
The workshop is led by BRIDGE accrediting facilitator Bolenga (Vanuatu) and Leotina Harihiru (accrediting facilitator) of Solomon Islands while the workshop facilitator is Hamidan Bibi from Fiji. There are five co-facilitators from Bouganville who were recently accredited after a Train the Facilitators workshop two weeks ago. The co-facilitators include Agnes Titus, Steven Simiha, Lawrence Chicka, Patricia Kapapal and Ezekiel Lames.
The workshop starts at 8am today (Monday 13th June) at Kuri Resort, Buka and ends on Friday 17th June.
