Kenya will be conducting a total of 11 ward and 1 parliamentary by-elections on 28 November 2011 - across the country. As part of the mentoring programme, I am with 5 of the TtF semi-accredited Kenya team doing their field work conducting training in preparation for these by-elections.  These will be the 1st by-elections conducted under the recently sworn in Commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) under the leadership of Mr. Ahmed Issack Hassan (Chairman), Ms. Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri- Zaja, Ms. Muthoni Wangai, Mr. Albert Bwire, Ms. Kule Galma Godana, Mr. Abdullahi Sharawe, Mr. Mohammed Alawi Hassan, Mr. Thomas Letangule and Amb. Yusuf Nzibo.

First Media BRIDGE Workshop in Georgia UNDP in Georgia supports capacity building of Election Administration of Georgia and other Election Stakeholders through the BRIDGE programme. After Election Administration and Observers, Media  representatives are targeted.  The objective of the media BRIDGE programme is to increase capacity of media representatives working on electoral issues and promote their electoral knowledge as well as election reporting. At least one person from each Media (television, radio, newspaper and internet magazine) will be represented on the workshop, totaling up 25 participants. The workshop is hosted by UNDP/Georgia project "Developing Capacities for Democratic Institutions for Fair Electoral Processes and Active Civil Participation" funded by Government of Georgia through the CEC. The Media BRIDGE workshop will be facilitated by Natia Kashakashvili, Giorgi Sharabidze and Tamar Zhvania at Sheraton Batumi Hotel (Batumi, Georgia) through 28-31 May, 2011.  

Turkmenistan will hold Halk Maslahaty (People's Councils) local election on 5 December 2010.  Before the election, the EMB, with the support of UNDP in Turkmenistan is holding a number of capacity building activities.  Two 2-day BRIDGE trainings on Media and Elections will be conducted in the capital city Ashkhabad on 1-2 November and 3-4 November, 2010.  Each training will have 25 participants, representatives of the local broadcast and printed media. BRIDGE Workshop for Media Professionals. Workshop is part  of a project implemented by IFES, UNDP and NCHR.

Conducted by IFES Jordan for the Government of Jordan. Participants will be from the Ministries of Interior and of Municipal Affairs, and of the Civil Status and Passports Department  

The Media and Elections Module to be conducted in Port Vila, Vanuatu by the University of the South Pacific.

IFES and the Egyptian Association for Training and Human Rights - EATHR agreed to join effort to organise a series of 5 BRIDGE training workshops for 100 selected participants representing the Media sector in the country.
