Afghanistan BRIDGE facilitator killed in plane crash

On 17 May 2010 a Pamir Airline flying from Kundoz province to Kabul crashed in the north mountains of Afghanistan killing all thirty-eight passengers. Unfortunately one of our the best semi accredited facilitators Mr.Eng.Durmohammad was travelling for official work to Kabul and lost his life.

Eng.Durmohammad was born in 1957. He got his master degree from Bako and he was teaching in engineering institute for 20 years in Mazar sharif province of Afghanistan. He started working with Election Commission of Afghanistan in 2003. Eng was the provincial election officer of Kunduz province. During his work with election commission he did his job honestly, professionally and impartially and he was a respected person for all.

Eng participated as trainee in different BRIDGE modules and was very active person. In 2007 he attended in BRIDGE TtF program which was held in Kabul and got the semi accredited certificate, after that he facilitated different BRIDGE modules and was one of the best facilitators. Eng also participated in observing the Nepali Constituent Assembly Election in April 2008.

I convey my sympathies to his family, IEC and BRIDGE team and ask peace for his soul and patients for his family.

"Dear Ross, Ben and the Team

On behalf of the small island states Pacific BRIDGE facililators, I would like to send our sincere sympathies and condolences to the tragic news and passing away of a BRIDGE facilitator from Afganistan, late Mr.Eng.Durmohammad. We are deeply sorry. Although we have not met him, but we feel that all BRIDGE facilitators, irrespective of their status is known to us and have become friends from afar. We feel part of the "one Big Family" of BRIDGE.

Kind regards
Hamidan Bibi
