The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the second largest intergovernmental organization after the UN. OIC regularly deploys electoral observation and monitoring missions to its member states and has always endeavored to improve its observation methodology and processes, thereby contributing to improved electoral processes in OIC Member States.
Staff from the Secretariat of OIC usually comprise most of the members of OIC observation missions. Following discussions between EAD and OIC electoral unit and in line with the constructive cooperation and partnership that exists between the UN and OIC in various areas including in the area of elections, it has been agreed to organize a BRIDGE workshop on electoral observation for the OIC Secretariat Staff..
In line with their current constructive electoral partnership, EAD and OIC Secretariat are planning to co-organize a BRIDGE workshop on electoral observation for participants from the OIC Secretariat.
Objectives
The objectives of the event are:
· To provide the participants with an overview of various aspects of the electoral administration and how to observe it
· To provide a venue for participants to share experiences and good practices on issues related to gender and elections including the trends and challenges related to gender aspects of election observation missions.
