UNDP Congo Brazzaville Organizes HYBRIDGE

UNDP Congo Brazzaville organized 6 Hybridge trainings in Brazzaville, Owando, Gamboma, Pointe-Noire, Dolisie and Impfondo from June 11th to June 24th 2012The trainings combined the BRIDGE methodology together with the media monitoring technique developed by Gorée Institute.

Ahead of the 2012 parliamentary elections and the 2013 local government elections, partners and electoral assistance providers such as UNDP, the United States Embassy and the European Union have agreed under the project “support to state and non state actors of electoral processes in the Republic of Congo” to build the capacities of key institutions in the electoral process. The hybridge trainings were organized as part of this project.

The 3 day hybridge trainings were conducted according to the following agenda:

Day 1: Introduction to electoral administration and role of media in the electoral process;

Day 2: Introduction to the monitoring and media system and case studies;

Day 3: Planning and organizing a media monitoring project.

A total of 209 participants were introduced to the BRIDGE methodology and expressed their kin interest in developing their skills and knowledge through the participation to various modular trainings and train the facilitator courses.

The training was coordinated by Mr Ibrahima Amadou Niang, BRIDGE Expert Facilitator and other members of the team were: Ms Antoinette Yawavi Lucky Mbrou (BRIDGE semi-accredited facilitator and teamleader); Mr Valdiodio Ndiaye (BRIDGE semi-accredited facilitator); Mr Massamba Ndiaye (Elections and IT Expert) and Mr Mamadou Seck (Expert in Governance).
