Top of the class in Malawi!

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on 17-21 September, 2012 conducted a 5-day BRIDGE Course on Civic Education and Voter Information Modules at Malawi Sun Hotel, Blantyre, Malawi.
The Course was organized by MEC with support from the European Union (EU) under the Democratic Governance Programme.
Thirty participants attended the course. Apart from MEC staff, participants were drawn from the Ministry of Information and Civil Society Organisation under the umbrella of Malawi Electoral Support Network (MESN).
The objective of the Course was to train the participants on Civic education and voter Information modules and equip them with skills on how to conduct civic and voter education programs thereby reducing voter apathy during elections.
The Course was officially opened by the Chairperson of Malawi Electoral Commission Justice Dr. Anastanzia Msosa SC. and officially closed by Commissioner Gloria Angela Chingota.
The course was coordinated by Thandi Nkovole a BRIDGE Workshop accredited facilitator and Director of Civic and Voter Education. The facilitators were Kate Mjojo a Workshop accredited facilitator and Lead Facilitator, Gellien Tembo a Workshop accredited Facilitator, Deverson Makwete and Lydia Luwanika Semi accredited facilitators.
At the end of the course, participants were presented with certificates.
This is the third Course that the MEC in conjunction with the EU has carried out this year and still intends to continue conducting more BRIDGE Courses for members of staff as well as stakeholders.
Appreciation is extended to the MEC and EU for conducting these important Bridge Courses which are an eye opener as expressed by participants.
