PRE-ELECTION ACTIVITIES

The National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC) conducted a 5 day Bridge Modular training course in Pre-Election Activities at the Palm Spring Resort in Liberia from 23 – 27 May 2016.
The workshop was sponsored by the European Union through UNDP, USAID through, IFES, and the NEC. In attendance were, 27 staff of the NEC, all Logisticians from across the country and its Headquarters. Day one of the workshop was endowed with participants creating their code of conduct and penalty which they were held accountable to throughout the course. Following, staff were opportune to experience context shapes through an exercise; an anecdotes and experience- sharing were also part of the day.
Key during the workshop was facilitators stressing the importance of operational and logistical planning and how it affects the work of the NEC.
On the fourth day of the workshop, there was a field visit to the NEC central warehouse. The visitation was to give participants, most of whom were logisticians, to draw up their impressions and give feedbacks. This exercise was done by grouping them and several feedbacks, comments, and suggestions were made. The result proved that staff had, for the past 3 days, understood their role and responsibilities as Logisticians for the NEC.
By the end of the day 5 of the Bridge Pre-Election course, the capacity of staff had been enhanced, with each being certificated as having participated in the 5 day Bridge Pre-Election course.
The workshop was conducted by 5 facilitators, all Liberian nationals. This is the first time in the Liberian Electoral Commission (NEC) that a Bridge course has been conducted by an all Liberian team, comprising two females and three males.
