Introduction to Electoral Administration in South Sudan

The United Nations Integrated Electoral Assistance Team (IEAT) in South Sudan conducted a three-day BRIDGE Introduction to Electoral Administration workshop for South Sudan electoral stakeholders to enhance their understanding of key standards, principles and election management techniques that are fundamental to effective electoral practice throughout the electoral cycle. The workshop took place from 18 – 20 June, 2024 in Juba, the Capital of South Sudan. Twenty participants participated in the 3-day training course (Five from the National Elections Commission – NEC, six from Civil Society Organizations – CSOs, and nine from UNMISS IEAT), seven of them were women.  

It was facilitated by Ossama Kamel, Rejoice Sibanda and Joyce Pitso (who obtained her accreditation as a workshop facilitator by the end of this workshop). Topics included International Standards; Electoral Cycle; Legal Frameworks for Elections; EMBs: Powers and Functions, Guiding Principles and Stakeholder Relations; Gender Equality; Disability Rights; Access Strategies; Operational Planning; and Voter and Civic Education.
