A BRIDGE TtF in Erbil, Iraq

14 March 2012

IFES Iraq organized in cooperation with Iraq’s IHEC (Independent High Elections Commission) the first BRIDGE TtF workshop in Erbil – Iraq. Twenty-nine IHEC staff members attended this workshop that took place from Feb 19 to 29, 2012, only 4 of them were women. Six BRIDGE facilitators participated in the preparation and delivery of this TtF:

1. Ossama Kamel (Independent BRIDGE facilitator)

2. Ahmed Abdullah Nori (IHEC BRIDGE facilitator)

3. Raad Thiaa Nouman (IHEC BRIDGE facilitator)

4. Hazim Kasim Naho (IHEC BRIDGE facilitator)

5. Mariwan Arif (IHEC BRIDGE facilitator)

6. Mustafa Mahmood (IFES BRIDGE facilitator)

Four of the six facilitators were IHEC staff. The facilitation team met the week before the workshop to prepare the material and divide the roles. All of the team members worked hard before and during the workshop where all the facilitators were available to assist participants till midnight every day. The participants took their role very seriously and spent long hours preparing their activities and discussing with the facilitation team and other participants. Although there were 14 pair presentations, all participants were actively involved in all the sessions. At the end of the workshop, all the participants earned their certificates thanks to their commitment and hard work. Looking forward to having more BRIDGE facilitators from Iraq after this successful TtF.
