12-14 December 2024

Togo renews with the BRIDGE training under the aegis of the New Perspective and the Public Law Center of the UL.
The modular BRIDGE workshop on December 12, 13, and 14, 2024, organized by the Public Law Center of the University of Lomé in collaboration with the NGO Nouvelle Perspective – Human Rights, has reaffirmed its commitment to support Togo in improving its electoral processes, especially in the run-up to the upcoming senatorial elections.
This support is part of efforts to enhance the transparency and efficiency of elections while promoting inclusive participation.
In this context, a new cohort of 20 Togolese experts will soon be trained to join the list of BRIDGE TtF Complete trainers in electoral management. These experts will benefit from a capacity-building session focused on key themes such as electoral administration, gender integration in elections, and the promotion of women’s participation.
“Elections are often sources of conflict, especially when they are poorly managed or misunderstood by the populations. These new skills will be made available to the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) to assist in organizing the elections,” said representatives of the BRIDGE steering committee during a session in Lomé.
BRIDGE, an acronym for Building Resources in Democracy, Governance, and Elections, is recognized as the most comprehensive training program in the world for electoral management.
During this training session, special attention will be paid to gender integration in the electoral process. The goal is to promote the active participation of women at all levels of the process, whether it is voting, running for office, or contributing to the administration of elections.
With the support of BRIDGE, Togo aims to strengthen the capacities of the CENI to organize more inclusive and peaceful elections.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to consolidating democracy and reducing the risks of electoral conflicts.
