The Election Commission of Bhutan conducted a 5 day BRIDGE Gender and Election module training workshop at Hotel Holiday Home, Paro, Bhutan from 27 to 31 December 2010.

The opening ceremony of the BRIDGE training was graced by Hon’ble Election Commissioner Dasho Chogyal Dago Rigszin.

The Training was attended by the Officials from the Election Commission of Bhutan, District Election offices and Gewog (block) Administrative Offices. The main objective of this training is to train and educate our trainers on election and gender for the upcoming Local Government Elections. The participants took active participation and have shown greater interest to take the gender mainstreaming to a greater height in the voter education programmes while they would also integrate into their plans and programmes in their work.

To draw attention to gender programmes in Bhutan, we had guest speaker from the National Commission of Women and Children.
