BRIDGE Train the Facilitators (TtF) workshop in French, Accra – Ghana
17 December 2009
In the course of the preparation to this very important workshop, Facilitators’ notes for 19 modules were translated in French together with the introduction module. As a result, the training was fully conducted in French with the support of the following facilitators:
- Alexandra Hovelacque (lead facilitator) – FRANCE
- Maïmouna Konaté (semi-accredited facilitator) – COTE D’IVOIRE
- Corneille Nanga (accredited facilitator) – CEI DRC
- Ibrahima Amadou Niang (accredited facilitator) – GOREE INSTITUTE SENEGAL
Participants who came from France, the USA, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Guinea Conakry, Portugal, Comoros, Senegal, Benin, Cameroon and Mali were fully committed to the activities over the 10 days.
Eighteen (18) participants completed the TtF successfully and were given their semi accreditation. Only one participant (Siaka Sangaré) was not accredited as he had to leave the training after the first week for emergency reasons.
The facilitation team was struck by the commitment and the adherence of the participants to the BRIDGE philosophy. Testimonials gave participants a deeper sense into the transformational journey each BRIDGE course sets up and underlined the advantages of putting together participants from various cultural backgrounds.
Paving the road ahead, participants strategically met in 4 groups to discuss the planning and organization of BRIDGE in their region: Sahel region (Senegal, Mali, Comoros, Niger), Group 2 (Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea Conakry, Benin, Burkina Faso), Central Africa (Burundi, DRC, Congo-Brazzaville, Cameroon), Group 4 (IFES, Association of European Elections Administrators, International IDEA). Common initiatives arose and participants expressed their will to see more BRIDGE materials translated into French.
We are pleased to welcome a new fully accredited facilitator (Maïmouna Konaté) in the BRIDGE family.
