BRIDGE workshop for Micronesian Election Management Bodies

2-3 September 2025

Kiribati

The sub-regional UNDP-PIANZEA led events rose to another level this year when the Micronesia electoral management bodies (EMBs) gathered in Tarawa, Kiribati on a two-day workshop on Voter and Civic Education module.

Setting the trend under the UNDP-PIANZEA funded workshops, the Kiribati Electoral Commission hosted 15 females and 5 male EMB participants from Palau, Federates States of Micronesia, Republic of Marshall Islands, and Nauru beside key stakeholder representatives, media organisations, and disabled people organisation.

The two-day workshop provided a platform for knowledge sharing, discussing operational challenges, strategies and designing outreach tools that fits the Micronesian countries. Strengthening democracy through impactful voter education programs for everyone including scattered islands and hard to reach areas, ensures that every voice is important and no one is left behind.

At the end of the workshop, participants valued new connections they have made and were confident in delivering civic and voter education using the eight steps.  The Micronesian representatives were keen to share their new skills and knowledge with colleagues back home.
