POST-ELECTION ACTIVITIES BRIDGE WORKSHOP IN BAGAMOYO – TANZANIA
9 June 2016
The National Electoral Commission of Tanzania (NEC) conducted its fourth BRIDGE workshop on Post-election Activities from 30 May to 3 June 2016 in the coastal and historic town of Bagamoyo, with 14 participants (8 females and 6 males) drawn from different departments and sections.
Funded by UNDP under the Democratic Empowerment Project (DEP), the objective of the course was to emphasize the importance of the post-election period to NEC electoral staff as the opportune moment to reflect on the 2015 General Elections, identify challenges and lessons to be applied in future planning towards sustainable electoral processes in Tanzania.
The workshop was conducted by a well-balanced team of facilitators in terms of gender (2 males and 2 females) and nationality (two nationals and two international), namely Zefanias Matsimbe from Mozambique as the Lead Facilitator, Rindai Chipfunde Vava of Zimbabwe as Co-Facilitator, Adolf Kinyero and Christina Ballali of NEC staff and Semi Accredited Facilitators. One of the two semi-accredited facilitators completed successfully his fieldwork; therefore, he was accredited as workshop facilitator.
The facilitators exhibited a good combination of professional experience and diverse background and expertise and provided a conducive environment and established a good professional relationship with the participants throughout the duration of the workshop. This was confirmed by participants who in the end of course evaluation expressed words of appreciation on the way facilitators worked with them and also on the way they delivered the course content.
