RWANDA NEC CONDUCTS YET ANOTHER TTF

RWANDA NEC funded by UNDP conducted a Train the Facilitator workshop which took place from 4-15 May 2015 at Gorillas Hotel in Musanze District. The TtF was organised in order to address the following objectives:
- Increase the number of staff, field workers and volunteers who are semi-accredited and and capable to conduct professional training
- Equip commissioners, staff and volunteers with knowledge and skills in electoral processes.
The President of NEC offically opened the workshop and he was also one of the participants. He stated that NEC undertook a commitment to provide opportunities to train all staff using the BRIDGE curriculum. He urged the participants to be focused and committed to complete the 10 day course and take active participation in all the activities and given tasks.
The TtF was attended by 20 participants, among them 4 Commissioners including the President of NEC, 7 staff working at the Headquarter office and 9 volunteers who play a role of Civic education officers at District level. Among the participants 7 were females and 13 were males. The facilitation team was made of the leading facilitator Rindai Chipfunde Vava and two local NEC staff Workshop Facilitators Jean de Dieu Rutatika and Vestine Mujawamariya.
The first two days of this workshop concentrated on qualities of a good facilitator, BRIDGE training techniques and tips in preparing to deliver a BRIDGE course and familiarizing the participants with facilitator resources. The rest of the workshop focused on 1st and 2nd Pairs presentations. This workshop captured the attention and interest of every participant. Olive Kansanga one of the participants and NEC Electoral Management specialist appreaciated the TtF Course and stated during the closing ceremony, “ that the workshop had equipped me with new methodologies of facilitation as well as giving us a bottomless resource in election knowledge in the form of a BRIDGE curriculum” .
The President of NEC Mr Kalisa Mbanda during his closing ceremony remarks thanked the BRIDGE office, UNDP, Faciltators, participants and NEC staff for the contributions to NEC capacity building project. He declared that NEC is going make use of the skills and knowledge gained and this will go along way to contribute towards credible future elections. Furthermore, he added that “this strong team will make NEC more effective to service key electoral stakeholders as well as to meet the interests of the whole country in building resources in Democracy, elections and governance in Rwanda.
