The University of Lomé Hosts Landmark Train the Facilitator Workshop to Strengthen Democratic Governance in Togo
The Public Law Center of the University of Lomé (CDP-UL) proudly hosted the Train the Facilitator (TtF) workshop in asrama, Togo, from 26 November to 3 December 2025. This flagship event, organized under the internationally recognized BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) program, marked a significant step in advancing democratic governance and electoral integrity in Togo.
The TtF workshop brought together a diverse group of participants who underwent intensive training in electoral education, conflict prevention, and civic engagement. By the end of the program, a new cohort of accredited facilitators emerged, equipped with the skills to lead future BRIDGE modules across the country.
These facilitators will now be integrated into the Public Law Center’s initiatives at the University of Lomé, ensuring that their expertise directly supports:
- Capacity building for election observers and civic educators.
- Research and training programs on democratic governance.
- Community outreach projects that strengthen citizen participation and trust in institutions.
Hosting the TtF workshop underscores Togo’s commitment to building resilient democratic systems. The University of Lomé, through its Public Law Center, has positioned itself as a hub for electoral knowledge and democratic innovation in West Africa.
“This workshop ensures that Togo not only benefits from international best practices but also develops homegrown expertise to guide communities through democratic transitions,” said one of the facilitators during an interview with a local media station at the end of the course at asrama, Togo.
The facilitators trained in Asrama will play a pivotal role in upcoming programs led by the University of Lomé, reinforcing the country’s leadership in promoting transparency, inclusivity, and accountability in governance.
