Voter Registration, Morogoro– Tanzania
24 June 2015
On 15th June, 2015, Tanzania Centre for Democracy (TCD) members convened in Morogoro, Tanzania, to attend a BRIDGE modular training on Voter Registration. The twenty four participants (twelve women and twelve men) were pulled from different Political Parties (twenty three from NCCR-Mageuzi, CCM, CUF, TLP, CHADEMA, UDP,) and one participant from TCD. The facilitation team composed of Emmanuel Kawishe (Lead Facilitator), Bernadetha Kafuko (Semi-accredited Facilitator). The workshop was funded by Danish Institution for Political Parties and Democracy..
The workshop introduced the participants to the BRIDGE learning methodology, which has a strong emphasis on adult learning techniques by capitalizing on individual experience, knowledge sharing and peer learning. Despite the fact that most participants were coming from senior positions they quickly familiarized themselves with the BRIDGE methodology and excelled in participation.
The course was intended to serve the purpose of exposing Political Parties to the voter registration process, particularly to the use of technology in voter registration.
Only twenty one participants departed with a well-deserved certification of completion. Whereas three participants were not awarded with certificates due to failure to attend the course for a whole day. Participants said they enjoyed each and every moment of the training and look forward to using BRIDGE methodology and training techniques in their training programmes, particularly in dissemination of information among other members of their parties on biometric voter registration.
The objectives of the course were achieved as participants acquired knowledge about voter registration. Thanks to the valuable support provided by Danish Institute for Political Parties and Democracy for funding the training and Tanzania Centre for Democracy for organizing the training.
