BRIDGE Rule 1: All BRIDGE activities must be approved by the BRIDGE Partners.  Approval is obtained through the BRIDGE Portal. Therefore, BRIDGE implementers must request approval from the BRIDGE Secretariat for BRIDGE activities as soon as they can legitimately do so.

The Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) and the United National Development Programme (UNDP), are implementing a 3-day BRIDGE modular workshop, Media and Elections, for media professionals and Constitutional Commissions.

The workshop seeks to:

  • Strengthen participants’ understanding of the role of the media throughout the electoral process.
  • Provide participants with the ability to implement gender sensitive and conflict sensitive reporting.
  • Strengthen capacity of media professionals to uphold good practices and ethics and adhere to the code of conduct for election reporting

 This workshop is part of a broad capacity development programme under Outcome 2 of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Capacity Building Project (ZIM-ECO) to “Strengthen media capacity for independent, inclusive and responsible election reporting” and aims to enhance accountability and transparency in the electoral process through continued stakeholder engagement and strengthened capacity of media professionals and constitutional commissions to provide and monitor equitable coverage of electoral processes.
