Strengthening Parliamentary Capacities: Second BRIDGE Workshop in Maputo
30 October - 31 October
Mozambique
The Technical Commission for the Implementation of the Inclusive National Dialogue (COTE), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and International IDEA, will hold a BRIDGE workshop on 30–31 October in Macaneta, Maputo Province. This event will be the second BRIDGE workshop dedicated to Members of the Mozambicam Parliament, reinforcing ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacities within the framework of Mozambique’s Inclusive National Dialogue (DNI).
A total of 23 participants will take part in the training, including 17 Members of Parliament from the Comissão de Assuntos Constitucionais, Direitos Humanos e Legalidade and six parliamentary assistants. The group comprises 15 men and 8 women.
The workshop comes at a pivotal moment, as Mozambique is finalizing revisions to its electoral legislation as part of the current reform process. Once submitted to Parliament, the Commission on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights and Legality will review, analyze, and issue opinions on the proposed legal package. Recognizing the commission’s central role, COTE and its partners are promoting this BRIDGE training to strengthen technical competencies in electoral administration, legal frameworks, and international electoral standards.
Through BRIDGE’s interactive methodology, participants will gain harmonized, updated, and internationally aligned knowledge on key aspects of electoral governance. The workshop aims to ensure that Members of Parliament are well‑prepared to assess the forthcoming reforms and contribute effectively to a transparent, credible, and informed legislative process.
