Voter Registration Basics for the NEC Liberia and CSOs
23-25 November 2022
Liberia
We must reach out to each Liberian voter and register them in the Voter role.
From 23 to 25 November 25, 2022, the NEC Liberia, in Partnership with UNDP LESP, organized training for the NEC staff and Civil Society Organization members to discuss Voter Registration Principles. The workshop addressed the Importance of a Voter Registration Process, and the Guiding Principles of Voter Registration (which include Sustainability, Accessibility, Inclusiveness, Cost-effectiveness, etc.), Timeline & Timeliness, Budgeting, Quality Assurance in Voter Registration, its impact on Boundary Delimitation, Secondary use of the data and Stakeholders, the Liberian Voter Registration System, and Voter Roll Audit.
Reaching out to as many citizens, male and female, as disabled and marginalized communities are of utmost importance for the forthcoming Voter Registration period. The conduct of the NEC Liberia staff, all relevant stakeholders, CSOs, and each citizen is extremely important to reach out to each community. The BRIDGE interactive methodology facilitated the discussions, and the NEC and CSO representatives who attended the training committed themselves to the execution of their respective duties, leading to the 2023 Election.
The NEC Liberia BRIDGE Implementation strategy and rollout plan implementation proceed according to the plan. The three new BRIDGE Workshop Facilitators added to the pool will strengthen the human capacities and the endeavors of transforming traditional lecturing into engaging learning workshops.
The NEC-Liberia Operations Department organized the workshop through its Training and Electoral Procedures Section, in collaboration with the UNDP Liberia Elections Support Project, with funding from the Swedish and Irish Governments.
