Youth and Elections

28 April 2026

Egypt

A BRIDGE workshop on “Youth and Elections,” based on the Introduction to Electoral Administration module, was conducted on 28 April 2026 at the headquarters of the League of Arab States (LAS) in Cairo, Egypt. The workshop was facilitated by five members of the LAS BRIDGE facilitation team, including two male Accrediting Facilitators and three female Workshop Facilitators.

The workshop was designed for youth from the Arab Youth Platform for Sustainable Development. It brought together twenty-two (22) participants—ten (10) women and twelve (12) men—representing diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of the electoral cycle and to enhance their knowledge of international standards and obligations for credible elections. It also placed particular emphasis on the role of youth in electoral processes and addressed emerging challenges, including the influence of social media, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity on elections.

In addition, the workshop provided a valuable opportunity for the LAS BRIDGE facilitators to gain hands-on experience in planning and delivering a one-day BRIDGE workshop—an important milestone for the facilitation team.

Through interactive discussions, group work, and practical examples, the workshop fostered an engaging and dynamic learning environment. Participants expressed strong interest in applying the knowledge and skills gained to their future civic engagement activities.

Based on participant feedback, the workshop was successful and demonstrated the value of tailored BRIDGE training for youth platforms and emerging leaders.
