NETHERLANDS INSTITUTE FOR MULTI-PARTY DEMOCRACY (NIMD) TTF FOR ETHIOPIA AND SOMALIA

Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) supported the first TtF for Somalia and Ethiopia electoral stakeholders

The BRIDGE Train the Facilitator (TtF) workshop was held at the Sapphire Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 29 May 29 to 7 June 2023. The workshop was organized by the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) and funded by the European Union. The TtF workshop was attended by twenty participants (four female and sixteen male) from a range of stakeholders, including the Committee for Registration of Political Associations and Approval of National Parties (CRPAANP) in Somalia, the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) and NIMD staff.

During the opening remarks, the Chairman of CRPAANP and the NIMD Country Director in Ethiopia welcomed the participants. They acknowledged NIMD for organizing this essential training to empower their institutions. The TtF participants appreciated that they learnt various facilitation techniques, presentation skills, curriculum development and module customization. In addition, they enjoyed the BRIDGE methodology and the rich curriculum as well networking with participants and facilitators from seven countries.

Most participants said the training met their expectations and improved their training skills and capacities as future facilitators. All participants highly appreciated how the workshop was organized and delivered. Overall, the TtF BRIDGE training has been an effective way to polish facilitation skills and a life-changing experience for most participants.

Finally, participant evaluations of the training showed that the workshop was excellent, as they were characterized as :
